Training must be undertaken at least annually if you practice from a clinical environment
The emphasis during these practical training sessions will be for the staff to work as a team and gain the knowledge and skills to manage a medical emergency or a Resuscitation situation. The following subjects will be covered as a minimum; further training if required can be discussed with your individual Resuscitation officer to meet local needs.
The length of the training session will be up to 2.5 hours depending on when you last had training and if you have an AED. Please discuss this with your Resuscitation Officer at time of booking
Core content:
• Current Adult Basic Life Support Guidelines
• Considerations when undertaking resuscitation in your environment
• Recovery position
• Choking
• Use of pocket masks (with 02 therapy)
• Oxygen therapy
• Team scenario practice
• Overview of drugs used in medical emergencies
• Use of suction, including portable/hand held suction
